Experience

About 5 years ago, I tutored my friends' and neighbors' children. I have two grown children who I also tutored and assisted with their studies. I would love to be a tutor for so many reasons, but I will name a couple. First, I think it is one of the most enjoyable jobs to have as it is rewarding to be able to help our future generations with their studies. I feel like I am contributing to helping the families of our community become successful. Secondly, this type of job is very flexible for me right now, I can fit it in to my present, full time job I have and can work the hours that suit me. In my past experience of tutoring, I have enjoyed it very much. Working one-on-one with students has been a joy and has brought much gratification to me. The classes I have taken, relative to the subjects I would like to tutor are basic Math classes, plus Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics. Although, I prefer to tutor basic math and some Algebra. I have also taken many English classes: English 1 & 2, Business English, and English Composition. I have always maintained straight A's in both Math and English in all my school years---Elementary, Junior High, High School, and college. To add to my qualifications I have over 27 years in Office Management and Accounting/Bookkeeping experience. I currently have a accounting/management position in the Autobody Industry. Part of my job consists of providing customer service to our customers which I enjoy very much. I possess excellent people, communication, and organizational skills. I am also very dependable, self-motivated, optimistic, and a great team-player. I understand that tutoring involves one-on-one interaction. I believe that I not only have the appropriate temperament for tutoring, but I also enjoy assisting children with their studies.

Hobbies

I am a mother of two---29 year old son and an 18 year old daughter. I enjoy motherhood and all the wonderful aspects of it. Both my son and daughter had learning disabilities which they and I learned how to work through them. My son had a speech impediment and APD. My daughter also had APD. This is Auditory Processing Disorder which means that children cannot process the information they hear in the same way as others because their ears and brain don't fully coordinate. Something adversely affects the way the brain recognizes and interprets sounds, most notably the sounds composing speech. Although, my children and I dealt with these learning disabilities, together we accomplished what was needed to have them both graduate from High School. In addition to motherhood, I enjoy my involvement with church ministries helping the elderly and assisting with events. I also am musically inclined: I have many years of public chorale group (choir) and have played the violin when I was younger. I currently enjoy playing the drums. I enjoy all kinds of music. Cooking and baking are on the top of my list of hobbies---I am always ready to try a new recipe. I am currently doing some research in learning how I can contribute to aiding in anti-bullying. I think that it is an atrocity that this even exists in our society.
