I am a college writing instructor and English tutor. I have taught first-year composition courses at the University of Southern California and at Pasadena City College. I also have extensive experience tutoring high school and college students. I first began tutoring students when I was an undergraduate in English at UC Berkeley. Later, as a graduate student in English at USC, I worked as a writing consultant for the University's Writing Center. For the past five years, I have been working for a well-known, national test prep company to help students prepare for the English sections of the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. I have a strong track record of helping students who are studying for these exams raise their scores. Of course, every student is unique. But on average, my long-term students, who have committed to the process of preparing for these exams, have improved their English scores by over 300 points. I know that college entrance exams can be intimidating. So I strive to demystify the process and help students acquire the reading and writing skills they will need not only for these tests but also later, in college.
